*************73 acres*****************
This is 73 acres for just $73,000 USD is too good to be true, so this property will probably not sell until the vendor/seller sees the error in his way and raises the price to something more believable. Meanwhile, the deal remains as priced and the offer is real. To add to the absurdity of the offer, there is a modest home there that comes with. It is set back from the famous Dreketi River, which, by water is only 8 miles to the ocean. This rolling hills property with native trees and pine is freehold, right on the river and there is no land tax on Fiji freehold. So, what is wrong with the property? The only thing that might make this seller think he is handicapped is you need a small boat to cross the river to get to the property. The boat comes with the property. Little does he know how inviting that natural barrier is to some folks. The idea of having a bit of a moat to cross has long been desirable for the isolationists. Why pay for an island when you can have the same access control? Certainly, there will be very few unexpected guests just dropping in. Even the police would have to make an appointment. There is a back road in, which is where they have logged years before. This access could be opened up economically, but some will like it the way it is. Right now, you park on the other side of the river, on the paved road and hop in your boat and row 100 meters across, or a little motor would not be so healthy, just more convenient. This property would make a great haven for a like-minded community who appreciate a little remoteness, but have the luxury of having a small town with a shopping center, Post Office and medical clinic just 5 minutes away on the other side of the river for all the incidental needs. The main town of Labasa with 100’s of stores with everything is only 35 miles away. The famous in Fiji tourist and yacht haven town of Savusavu is also about 35 miles away, a different turn at the fork in the road. This is a safe and beautiful place. The river empties into the ocean just about 9 miles down the river. Locals say you can take a large deep draft boat down it and go ocean fishing. The river moves with the tide some, so it is never stagnant, and needless to say, never floods

*************ABOUT Fiji****************** Everyone by now has heard about the coups. Fiji seems to have them like some countries have elections. This one looks like it might stay awhile and virtually all the expats and long time residents; those who for generations have lived here all seem to agree. “Frank” saved the place and is doing a good job. The incredible corruption that finds its way into a government, every government, can get cleaned up if that is the demeanor of the leader. So it appears is the case with this leader. Interestingly, the very thing that attracts some to seek a haven from their homelands, so does Fiji seem to want the same distancing from these same homelands. You can judge that by the negative press in Australia and New Zealand, who can’t seem to get into the pants and minds of Fiji these days. Fiji and its occupants may well be an island entire to itself one day, deliberately removed from the element so many are turning away from—the Western World.
